Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Offsite Manufacturing team based at our Oakenshaw facility in Bradford.

 

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to develop their commercial career within a fast-paced and innovative offsite manufacturing environment. Supporting the commercial team, you will assist in the commercial management of projects, helping to maximise profitability through timely applications for payment, effective cost control, agreement of variations, and accurate reporting.

 

Working closely with experienced Quantity Surveyors and operational teams, you'll gain exposure to a wide range of commercial activities while building your knowledge of offsite manufacturing and MEP project delivery.

 

Responsibilities

• Promote and support our safety-first culture, ensuring safe working practices remain visible throughout all activities.
• Assist in ensuring compliance with legal requirements, company policies, procedures, and contractual obligations.
• Support the commercial team in understanding project contract terms, identifying risks and opportunities, and maintaining associated records.
• Assist with the management and maintenance of commercial documentation to maximise contractual entitlements.
• Liaise with operational and manufacturing teams to develop an understanding of project progress and commercial status.
• Support the preparation and submission of applications for payment, variations, and compensation events.
• Assist with the management of subcontractor accounts, including valuations and final account processes.
• Monitor project costs and progress, supporting accurate commercial reporting and forecasting.
• Help maintain project records including applications, certificates, payments, and commercial documentation.
• Assist with client and subcontractor communications to support successful commercial outcomes.

 

Requirements

• Previous experience in an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Assistant, Graduate Quantity Surveyor, or similar role would be advantageous.
• Degree, HNC/HND qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or currently working towards one.
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Experience of subcontractor management or change management would be beneficial.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts is desirable.
• Knowledge or exposure to Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) projects would be beneficial but is not essential.
• An interest in offsite manufacturing, modern methods of construction, or building services engineering would be advantageous.
