Site Manager – Scaffolding, Temporary Works & Lifting

Summary

We have an opportunity for a Site Manager to join our Engineering team at NG Bailey, working on a large and complex MEP project based in Denham.

This is a specialist site-based role with responsibility for overseeing the project’s scaffolding activities, temporary works and lifting operations, ensuring works are effectively planned, coordinated and delivered safely and in line with the project programme.

The successful candidate will work closely with our construction, MEP, logistics and engineering teams, as well as managing specialist subcontractors. A key part of the role will be taking responsibility as the project's Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) and Appointed Person (AP) for lifting operations, or demonstrating the competency and experience required to fulfil these responsibilities.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
  • Managing the specialist scaffolding subcontractor, overseeing works from design and planning through to installation, inspection, modification and dismantling.

  • Coordinating scaffolding requirements across construction, MEP and logistics teams to support the wider project programme.

  • Acting as Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), coordinating temporary works designs, reviews, approvals and maintaining the Temporary Works Register.

  • Ensuring temporary works are managed in accordance with BS 5975, company procedures and approved designs.

  • Acting as Appointed Person (AP) for lifting operations, developing and approving lifting plans and method statements.

  • Coordinating craneage, hoists, MEWPs and specialist lifting equipment across the project.

  • Ensuring lifting activities are carried out in accordance with LOLER, PUWER and project requirements.

  • Working closely with designers, engineers, subcontractors and site teams to identify safe, practical and cost-effective solutions.

What we’re looking for:

If you have a strong site management background and experience overseeing scaffolding, temporary works and lifting operations on complex construction or engineering projects, we’d love to hear from you.

You'll be comfortable coordinating multiple teams and specialist subcontractors in a busy project environment, with a strong focus on safety, planning and successful project delivery.

Some of the key experience we're looking for includes:

  • Strong experience managing scaffolding packages and specialist subcontractors.

  • Competency to undertake the role of Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC), with a good working knowledge of BS 5975.

  • Competency to act as an Appointed Person (AP) for lifting operations, or demonstrable experience providing equivalent oversight.

  • Strong knowledge of lifting operations and relevant LOLER and PUWER requirements.

  • Experience coordinating temporary works designs, approvals and site implementation.

  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across construction, engineering, MEP and logistics teams.
