Summary
The Senior Environmental Consultant will manage the environmental compliance elements of the environmental schemes that we are working on while contributing to Freedom’s ‘Journey to 2030’ growth strategy. This position offers the opportunity to work in some of the UK’s most extraordinary landscapes, contributing to meaningful environmental improvements. The role offers challenge and growth with the opportunity to play a pivotal role in scaling a high-impact environmental business.

This role is focusing on a framework of Large Capital Delivery Projects in the Power Sector and is based in Scotland.

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

  • Develop and deliver environmental consultancy services across all project phases, including preparing Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and securing environmental consents and permits
  • Conducting on site audits and inspections and monitoring the actions
  • Undertake Environmental Site Walkovers at a variety of locations within Scotland.
  • Lead on Environmental consultations within Scotland with regulatory bodies.
  • Provide environmental advice to clients and internal teams ensuring environmental compliance across design and build projects
  • Lead or support projects through licensing and consenting processes (NSIP/SCO), helping clients navigate regulatory requirements
  • Conduct environmental impact assessments (EIA), site investigations, reporting and ensure adherence to environmental legislation
  • Oversee and ensure the efficient delivery of multiple projects and workstreams across the UK
  • Play a key role in shaping and executing policies and processes to meet the evolving needs of the business
  • Develop, mentor, and inspire the team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence
  • Assist with tender writing, framework evaluation, and the production of bids, case studies, and contract submissions
  • Ensure all projects comply with health and safety standards, with all Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Toolbox Talks in place and up to date
  • Scope, quote, and plan works while managing labour levels and subcontractor relationships
  • Attend pre-start meetings, regular client and contractor reviews, and internal management meetings
  • Ensure strong health and safety performance across all operations
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to align with business objectives and client expectations
  • Build upon our reputation for delivery and attract new clients through strategic relationship management
  • Detailed knowledge of UK environmental legislation and its application within the business
  • Provide technical advice and guidance around environmental compliance.
  • Ability to manage a number of projects

 

What We’re Looking For:

Essential

  • Proven expertise in managing frameworks, contracts, and complex operations in the environmental or related industries
  • Demonstrable leadership experience, driving growth and operational excellence in a similar role
  • Experienced with Scottish environmental regulations
  • Strong understanding of health and safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Skilled in tender preparation, project scoping, and the development of work methodologies
  • Financially literate with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics
  • A motivational leader capable of mentoring and developing teams, particularly early-career professionals

Desirable

  • Undertaking EnvCoW role on a range of sites.
