Summary
We are currently seeking an Operations Manager to join the team. This individual will control the overall operational delivery across a range of projects and customers, whilst ensuring that sustainable profitability and customer satisfaction are delivered through effective leadership, high performing teams and exceptional internal and external stakeholder management.
You’ll be responsible for supporting operational teams in the setup of new projects within the Business Unit, including preparation of CDM files and statutory documentation. Oversees day-to-day delivery of live projects, ensuring effective team management, timely client reporting, and robust internal governance and performance controls. Ensures operational consistency, compliance, and successful project execution across the EV Business Unit portfolio.
Some of the key deliverables for the role will include:
- H&S - Demonstrate strong health and safety leadership to ensure that the “Safety First and Foremost” message is visible and alive throughout all activities relating to the area of control. Support the Operations director and central SHE team by delivering clear and consistent communications.
- Work Winning -Participate in bid activities that support the work winning team and processes; to ensure that professional, profitable and successful bids are delivered, providing agreed levels of turnover and meeting customer expectations.
- Pre-commencement - Lead the operational team and work with relevant pre-construction teams to maximise opportunities and profitability in the delivery phase of projects. Drive compliance with the principles of effective pre-commencement, ensuring that customer requirements and objectives are identified and that projects are ready to make an effective start on site.
- Risk Management - Identify and manage project and business unit risks and opportunities, ensuring that these are commercially mitigated or enhanced to provide a clear and up to date risk position. Communicating this risk position to internal and external stakeholders effectively.
- Team Leadership and Engagement - Provide engaging and authentic leadership in all aspects of your role; deliver business strategy by gaining involvement in company initiatives and communications and support the Operations director by cascading clear and consistent communication.
- Provide clear direction and leadership to all team members through the provision of objectives, responsibilities and accountabilities, managing performance accordingly.
- Progress Reporting - Ensure that contract reviews deliver high quality, succinct and relevant management information which provides clarity and surety to senior leadership.
- Ensure that projects in your area of control provide accuracy and integrity of cost, values and programme information, and that they implement actions which mitigate risk and maximise profitability.
- Business Planning and Budgeting - Support the Operations director and Commercial director in the preparation of annual budgets and updates through the provision of accurate information.
- Manage the acquisition and delivery of works in the designated area of control to ensure achievement of agreed budgets.
- Stakeholder Relations Build a respected and valued reputation within the region, that delivers both positive long-term relationships with customers and creates a culture of performance within the regional team. Work alongside the work winning team to maintain and enhance customer relationships which deliver the needs of the divisional and regional strategies.
- Project Closure - Provide clear direction and leadership to drive successful completion of all projects within agreed timescales, agreed budgets and to meet specification and customer requirements; ensuring that these are closed out in accordance with the requirements of PLAT. Ensure that project defects are closed out in a timely manner to maintain client relationships and project profitability.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience of Construction acting as a Principal Contractor on medium - large construction projects
- This role will have a requirement to travel – driving licence ideally
